Message from the Minister

Small business is the engine of British Columbia's economy - in fact, 98 per cent of all businesses in the province in 2007 were small businesses, employing more than a million people and generating 46 per cent of all jobs.

That's why we established the permanent Small Business Roundtable - to provide small business with a voice in government.

Together, we are working to cultivate an environment in which small businesses succeed - where regulatory requirements are reduced, tax burdens are minimized and government is responsive to the needs of business owners across the province.

As British Columbia emerges from these tough economic times, small businesses have an instrumental role to play.  I look forward to serving as chair of the Roundtable and continuing this successful partnership.
