As a small business owner myself, I understand how British Columbia’s small businesses form the backbone of our economy, providing valuable jobs that support B.C. families.
To strengthen this vital sector, government is committed to maintaining a competitive tax regime that will help shape B.C.’s future. Keeping business taxes low is essential for creating a tax environment that will attract investment, create jobs and move our economy forward.
There are 395,000 small businesses in B.C., that’s 98 per cent of all businesses in British Columbia. Small businesses generate over 50 per cent of all private sector jobs in the province, employing over one million people. The Small Business Roundtable was created to provide these small businesses with a voice, a mechanism for consultation and recommendations to government, to enhance small business growth and success.
I look forward to serving as chair of the Roundtable and working with you to develop new programs and strategies to strengthen our economy and create jobs for British Columbians.
