Overview

The Cariboo covers much of the northern interior of the province and is home to 153,500 people or 3% of the provincial population. It includes Prince George which acts as a major service center for the northern half of the province, and the town of Barkerville - the capital of the Cariboo Gold Rush of the mid 1800s. The key economic sectors include forestry and mining.
